Sisters!

Our Girls (I love how proud Rylee looks)

Rylee talking to Sadie. She likes to get right up close to her face and "baby" talk to her.

Like I mentioned before, Rylee loves to hold Sadie! She pats her lap and says "baby, mine" over and over again until we let her hold Sadie. She doesn't even care if Sadie is crying, she still wants to hold her. It is hard sometimes cause she doesn't understand that she can't always hold her when she wants to. But I am not complaining, we are so glad that she shows interest in her sister and likes her instead of the opposite. It was really cute the other day Sadie was crying and Rylee came up and gave Sadie her blankie. Rylee loves her blankie (alot!) so I was impressed that she shared it with her sister.

I think it is sweet how she gives Sadie kisses on her forehead.

Here she is trying to shove the pacifier in Sadie's mouth. She likes to help and make sure her sister has it (whether she wants it or not). We are trying to teach Rylee not to touch the swing because she will walk by and push the swing and say "wee". She doesn't quite understand that we don't push this swing, that it goes on its own.

On her tippy toes and helping mom give Sadie a bath.

As you can see, Rylee is my little helper...most of the time. She has shown a little more attitude lately than usual. I am sure it is her just trying to get the attention. I try not to lose my patience but she certainly knows how to test it at times. Overall, we are really happy with how she is adjusting to being a big sister!

1 Week Old

Sadie is already over a week old! Things seem a little easier with the second one, at least you don't stress about every little thing. Our biggest adjustment is caring for a toddler and a newborn. Luckily Rylee loves her sister and has shown a lot of interest in her (sometimes even too much) and we haven't seen to much jealousy yet. Sadie has been a pretty good baby and incredibly sweet. She's a good sleeper which is greatly appreciated. Unfortuately she is a spitter upper. She spits up a lot. The doctor told me not to be concerned but I just feel bad for her. It doesn't matter if it is 15 minutes or 2 hours after she fed she could spit up and sometimes it seems to upset her when she does it. Hopefully that will get better.

We had her 1 week check-up on Tuesday. It went great! When she left the hospital she was 8lbs. 11oz. but by Tuesday (6 days old) she was already back to her birth weight. I was glad to hear that because with all the spitting up I wasn't sure what she would weigh in at. The doctor said everything else checked out good too and we don't need another appointment til her 1 month visit.
Here's her 1 week stats:
Weight: 9 lbs. 7 ozs. (97th %)
Height: 22 in. (97th %)
Head: 36 cm (60th %)

Here's a few pictures from her first week home.

On her way to her first doctors appointment.

I forgot how much newborns sleep!

But they sure do look precious sleeping.

Even though she sleeps so much I did manage to get a few pictures of her wide awake, showing off her big eyes.

This picture also shows off her big cheeks (that are so soft and get kissed all the time)!

I wanted to get a picture that showed you how long she is. This one does a pretty good job of that. Not only are her arms and legs long but she has the longest fingers and toes too.

Uncle Brad Visits

Last weekend Uncle Brad came down from Chicago to meet his new niece and of course to play with his other one. Brad is really good with Rylee and she sure does love him. She also knows that Uncle Brad will give her whatever treat she wants and she took advantage of that a few times. Thanks for visiting us Brad!

At The Hospital

Here's a few pictures from our time at the hospital. I know some of you have been waiting for more pictures and I apologize it took me a few days.

One of her first few pictures. To hear your baby cry for the first time is the best cry ever!

Kisses from mom already

She loved her bath. Brad said she was so content through the whole thing.

Daddy and his baby girl

Mama with both of her girls.

Rylee was so excited to see her baby sister. She loves her! But in this picture she is reminding us who still rules the roost.

Our Family of 4

Gramma and Sadie

Grampa and Sadie

Rylee is so good with sharing her toys with Sadie. She brought Elmo to the hospital and gave it to Sadie to hug while she was sleeping. It was so cute I had to take a picture.

Just hanging out with Mom, doesn't she look so comfortable and content.

Look at those cheeks! So soft and kissable!

Sisters!

Rylee leaning in to give her baby sis a kiss.

We're going home! We got released around 8:00 Friday night after her 48 hour check up.

She's a big baby but she still looked small in her carseat.

She looked so sweet in her little hat with those big cheeks hanging out.

Sadie Lee

Sadie Lee Spindler
May 27, 2009
9lbs. 7 oz. , 22 in.

Sadie entered the world right on time...her actual due date. Her timing actually worked out perfect. I had my 40 week appointment on Tuesday and we had scheduled an induction for Friday morning if I hadn't had her by then. I was hoping she would come on her own and was very happy when she did. My parents drove down here and got here around noon on Wednesday. I had been having a few contractions that morning but they were about 10 minutes apart and not too strong. So when they got here we visited for awhile and then went out to lunch. By the time we got there I realized my contractions were getting stronger and were about 5 minutes apart. So my dad told the waiter to make ours to go (and fast), his daughter is in labor. I called Brad at work around 1:30 and told him he might want to come home soon. Luckily he came right away. I got to the hospital around 3:00 and my contractions were 2 minutes apart and really strong by that point. They checked me and I was already 6 cm dilated! I couldn't believe it. My water broke on its own a little later and by 6:30 I was fully dilated. I started pushing around 7 and had her at 7:48 PM. A beautiful, healthy, big baby girl! Another true blessing!

Kids Korner Graduation

Our little "Graduate"

Yesterday at Rylee's daycare, Kids Korner, they had a graduation ceremony. They have one every year for the kids that are graduating on to kindergarten and the rest of the kids for finishing the "school year" and moving on up. It is pretty darn cute to see them all dressed up in the gowns. They had a grand march, then said the pledge of allegiance, sang some songs, and showed off some of their skills they learned this year (counting, colors, ABC's, etc.). Obviously the young ones didn't quite do all of that but they just went along with it all. Then Ms. Jaime called each one up and they got a certificate and a little graduate stuffed animal. We sure do love our daycare, they are so great with the kids!

Getting ready for the ceremony

Ready for the grand march. Unfortunately for the march instead of walking to Rylee's seat she ran to me and sat on my lap. Then Grace did the same so I had 2 girls on my lap for the entire thing. That's ok, they are a little young to really get into it.

Rylee saying "cheese"

Grace saying "cheese"

Here they are after the ceremony sitting in their chairs, I guess better late than never. Grace wanted to hold Rylee's hand but I don't think Rylee wanted to.

She didn't wear her cap but she did carry it around for awhile.

Big smile

Rylee loved her graduation puppy that Ms. Jaime gave her. She even had to sleep with it last night.

One more of Rylee and her best friend (and neighbor) Grace.

After the ceremony there were cupcakes for everyone. Rylee loved hers and ate the whole thing.

Grace especially liked the frosting as you can see by her green fingers and mouth.
